Aaliya is from Hunza, Gilgit-Baltistan. She pursued her Bachelors degree in Environmental Sciences at Asian University for Women(AUW) & Masters of Environmental Studies at York University, Canada. Aaliya is a first year Ph.D. student at the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University, USA. She is pursuing Ph.D. in Earth & Climate Sciences. Her area of concentration addresses the impacts of climate-induced disasters on mountain communities in the Himalayan region, with a particular focus on Pakistan, India, Nepal & Bhutan. She has become part of the BTF family from June 2021.
