Bibi Thanjur Scholarship Programme
The Bibi Thanjur Foundation provides scholarships to secondary, higher secondary, and only a few university-level students each year. The number of scholarships each year varies depending on the availability of funds and the number of applications. The primary criterion for the scholarships is based on merit and need-based students from Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral.
The BTF aims to identify needy and deserving students in the Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral (GBC) regions of Northern Pakistan who have the interest and aptitude to pursue their education but are deprived of it due to lack of means. The Foundation will specifically target:
- The educational need for society
- Special attention to girls’ education
- Provide scholarships for students on merit-cum-need basis
- Facilitate female access to secondary and tertiary education
- Create a chain of scholars to learn from each other
- Facilitate capacity-building
- Genuine Financial Need
- Grade 7th to 12th students
- Minimum 65% in the previous three academic years (if applicable)
- Students from Gilgit-Baltistan & Chitral
Required Documents:
- Application Form
- CNIC of Parents/Guardian
- CNIC or B-form of applicant
- Fee Structure or Receipt
- Academic Records (mark sheets of previous three academic years)
- Recommendation from Principal or Class Teacher
- Personal Essay
Our main criteria for selecting award winners are:
- The BTF will announce an open call.
- The application will be received before the start of the academic year once for the whole year.
- The regional offices (Regional Coordinators) will receive an application form.
- The BTF office will not accept applications that do not follow the procedure.
- Head Teacher/subject teacher will recommendation is part of the application.
- The panel interview is part of the final selection process.
- The scholarship will be provided on a merit and need basis.
- 70% of the awardees will be female.
- 70% scholarship will be provided to the school (ECD-Grade 10) and 30% to college-level students (Grade 11/12). In the case of Direct Sponsorship, a few undergraduate awards are possible.
- Deserving students qualify for reputable institutions will be preferred.
- A minimum of 65% will be required to apply for the continuation of the scholarship.
- Differently-able students and female students will be given priority in the scholarship process.
- BTF scholarships are subject to the availability of funds. Therefore, BTF has the authority to discontinue scholarship. However, BTF will be responsible for informing Parents well before time.
- The BTF representative will sign an agreement with the students on terms and the continuation of the scholarships.
- The scholarship will be awarded for one academic year.
- Continuation of the scholarship is not automatic.
- The scholarship committee will finalize the candidate and share it with Executive Director’s office for final approval.
Bibi Thanjur Foundation Scholarship award will cover tuition fees only. It may cover school uniforms through the Uniform-Drive program. The examination fee and hostel are rarely covered to avoid logistics.
